Cotabato City, Maguindanao SK Officials Engage In SDG Forum

May 5, 2019 -- The Master of Public Administration students of Mindanao State University - Maguindanao conducted the "Sangguniang Kabataan Forum on Sustainable Development Goals" at MSU-Maguindanao Graduate School, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Officials of Cotabato City and Maguindanao attended the activity, while Mary Kris C. Lozano and Ameer Hassan P. Datumanong, co-founders of the Social Initiative for the Greater Advancement of the Youth (SIGAY), served as the resource speakers for the event.



With the theme "Youth Governance towards Global Goals", the activity aimed to provide basic knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how youth governance in the grass root level can help in achieving these goals by 2030. The forum started with a brief history of the SDGs, followed by the discussion of the 17 goals and the actions of the Philippine Government for each goal. The speakers ended by discussing the roles of the youth in achieving the SDGs, emphasizing the impact of the participants as leaders of their community.
